Pop top gas spring mounting

Postby Seadoc » Mon Nov 19, 2018 12:17 am

I'm adding gas springs to my 85 Mac 25. Can the mounting plates be fixed with screws or are similarly sized bolts better? The holes will fit #10 or M5 screws.

I'm not familiar with the structure of the 25 but I assume it's similar to my 26S. I'd be inclined to through bolt if you can, using washers with larger than standard OD. It's generally a good idea to spread out the load on fiberglass, where feasible.
