12) Click "Done"
WARNINGS:
-- Never, NEVER, NEVER click the
icon next to the "Macgregor Sailors Map"!! That will *kill* the entire map for everyone! (And the resulting bad karma will give your boat a horrible case of fiberglass blisters.)-- When you are editing or adding places, DO NOT change the name of the map on the left hand side. To add a new place, see the directions above, or the abbreviated directions on the left side of the map.
--- Please be careful! Some areas are very crowded and it is possible for you to move someone else's marker. Make sure that you are on your own.
--- Please do not post this on other forums. The map has been wiped out in the past.

Other Tips:
1 ) You can enter a Lat/Lon (Decimal format, or D,M, S), or an address in the "Search Maps" box at the top. Then just click on "Add to My Maps". You can then edit the marker.
2 ) If you have to move your placemark later, just edit the map, click and hold your placemark and drag it.
3 ) When manually placing a marker, do so using a close zoom to increase accuracy. Also helpful is the Sat view.
4 ) You can change your placemark icon while editing your placemark. Click the
5 ) If you already have a Google account, or want to sign up for one, you can save this map to your own account. First make sure that you are not logged onto your Google account, or the Macgregor Sailors Map then go to the Macgregor Map site Here.
Near the upper left corner of the map, you will see a link "Save to My Maps". Click it then log into your Google account and all will be well. Then when you log into your Google account, just go to Maps > My Maps and click on the Macgregor Map link.
6 ) You can include a link to a picture by clicking the "Edit HTML" link on your new placemark.
-->NOTE: To add an image you *must* click the "edit HTML" line within your placemark - if you paste it as plain text it won't work! Also, it would be best if you limited the size of the picture.
Here's the code I used for mine:
- Code: Select all
<div dir="ltr">1997 Macgregor 26X w/ Tohatsu 50 - kmclemore<br></div>
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v296/procolharum/img_0202.jpg" border="0" width="360" height="240">
Notice I limited the size by including the code width="360" height="240" within the IMG statement... this is a reasonable size for map use.[/quote]
A backup (Non-editable) map has been created and is updated regularly from the main map, so if someone "accidentally" biffs the main map, most of the data (usually within 24 Hrs.) can be recovered. This backup map can be viewed from the: Macgregorsailor's Lifeboat website, which everyone is welcome to join and use in case this site goes down.
